世界手工艺理事会50周年 朱哲琴当选“世界手工艺大使”
Dadawa Appointed “World Crafts Ambassador” at the 50th Anniversary of the World Crafts Council
2014年10月18日，备受瞩目的2014“世界工艺文化节”在中国浙江东阳开幕。中国艺术家、当代民艺设计推动者朱哲琴当选“世界手工艺大使”，并为大会创作会歌。
“世界手工艺理事会”中国代表、中国工艺美术协会会长王山先生表示，朱哲琴女士近年来致力于手工艺的保护、传承与发展，并带动艺术、设计、时尚、营销等其他产业环节释放了巨大能量，她过去二十年的艺术造诣以及游历40多国的旅行眼界及人文积累使她成为了手工艺的传承者、当代设计的实践者与推动者，世界瞩目的文化领袖，他为朱哲琴能够担任“世界手工艺大使”感到骄傲。
据了解，此次2014“世界工艺文化节”正值“世界手工艺理事会”（WCC）成立50周年，是有史以来规格最高、规模最大的一次盛会，活动云集联合国教科文组织重要官员和近千位各国手工艺界代表。世界手工艺理事会作为一个非盈利非政府组织， 1964年6月12日成立于美国纽约，经过半个世纪的发展，现今已拥有110个会员国家，并成为联合国教科文组织的下设机构。此次推举朱哲琴当选“世界手工艺大使”是为了更好地增进世界各国手工艺者之间的友谊、推动当代手工艺及设计的发展。
朱哲琴近年来致力于当代民艺设计的推动和发展，在她的倡导下发起的当代民艺设计平台[看见造物]，在成立后的短短两年内，迅速集结了国内外卓著设计师、手工艺大师及工坊、生产、营销等力量，将中国传统手工艺及材质带入当代生活，并通过最新的“看见民生”系列，将提供适合生活实用和大众消费的设计良品。
朱哲琴说：“50年前，艾琳•韦伯女士创立了‘世界手工艺理事会’，提出‘手工创造未来’。过去的50年中，世界手工艺理事会为这个目标付出了长足的努力，未来，我们将通过这个平台共同努力，保护并提高手工艺作为世界文化和经济重要组成部分的地位，让手工艺真正回归当代，回归生活。希望通过‘看见造物’这样的平台，为当代民艺设计提供更多的参考和可能性。手工艺的实用性和产业化任重道远，探索和传承同样重要。”

On October 18, 2014, the opening ceremony of the 2014 WCC Golden Jubilee Celebration Summit was celebrated in Dongyang, Zhejiang Province, China. Chinese artist and contemporary crafts design promoter Dadawa was appointed “World Crafts Ambassador”, who has also created the anthem for the Summit.
Mr. Wang Shan, Chinese representative of the “World Crafts Council” and president of the China Arts and Crafts Association, said that Ms. Dadawa had been devoted to the protection, inheritance and development of crafts in recent years and had promoted the development of other industrial links such as art, design, fashion and marketing which had released enormous energy; and her artistic attainments made in the last 20 years of her career and her outlook and cultural deposits gained in her travel in over 40 countries had made her an inheritor of crafts, a practitioner and promoter of contemporary design and a remarkable world cultural leader. He’s proud of her being appointed “World Crafts Ambassador”.
It’s learned that the 2014 WCC Golden Jubilee Celebration Summit, held also at the 50th anniversary of the WCC, is the grandest and largest meeting of the WCC ever, gathering important UNESCO officials and nearly one thousand crafts representatives from all over the world. Founded in June 12, 1964 in New York, the United States, the WCC is a non-profit non-governmental organization. Through the development of half a century, it currently has 110 member states and has become an organization of the UNESCO. The purpose of electing Dadawa as “World Crafts Ambassador” is to better enhance the friendship among craftsmen worldwide and promote the development of contemporary crafts and design.
Dadawa has been devoted to the promotion and development of contemporary crafts in recent years. “KANJIAN”, a contemporary crafts design platform initiated by Dadawa, has gathered prominent designers, crafts masters, workshops and production and marketing forces in only two years since its founding, aiming to bring traditional Chinese crafts and materials into contemporary life. Its latest product series “KANJIAN Life” will offer exquisite design works suitable for everyday use and mass consumption.
Dadawa says, “50 years ago, Mrs. Aileen Osborn Webb. founded the WCC and proposed ‘creating the future by hand’. In the last 50 years, the WCC has made constant efforts to achieve the goal. In the future, we will make joint efforts to protect crafts and raise the status of crafts as an important part of world culture and economy and make them part of contemporary life. I hope that through “KANJIAN” we can provide more references and possibilities for contemporary crafts design. The utility and industrialization of crafts is a long-term, arduous task. The exploration is as important as inheritance.”
